El Roi
POEM OF THE MONTH SCARLET ROPE Men and women shout accolades Then they turn their backs in shame All is well then all is not You turn from the spotlight into the spot Fickle is this human race When all desire power’s embrace They swing to the left and to the right They walk in darkness seeking light One must look to Him above The author of unfailing love For all will flee and fade away But He is always here to stay Do not follow only lead Embrace a holy humility All have been scarred by sin’s cruel blow You can overcome the highs and lows Turn from the left and from the right Walk into the dawn and out of the night Know that I will do a new thing If you trust in me and let my praise ring For knowing the ways of a loving God Will deliver you from where you were shod I plan to prosper and give you hope My plan includes a scarlet rope Climb my child embrace its cords As you call me God and Lord You’ll soon be up and looking around Lamenting the fall that kept you down I will bring you light in this dreary season Don’t try to search for a rhyme or reason I do what I will what I choose to do And in this season I choose you Sandrapopp?2005 SCRIPTURE Genesis 16:13 "And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?" THOUGHT El Roi is one of the Hebrew names of God. It means, "The God who Sees". Trials can be lonely and we often feel that God is a million miles away. We sometimes perceive God with fallible human attributes. We feel as though he is sleeping, too busy, and too important or He is just ignoring us. I assure you He is not human that He should sin. Nothing gets past His sight. Haggar was once a servant who would deliver the promised child, but things didn't work out as humanly planned. God saw as Abraham and Sarah used human efforts to force God's promise, thus bringing into this world Ishmael. Haggar went from being a bearer of blessing to becoming a reminder of sin. Although she represented evil to those around her, God saw her pain and took care of her and her child. God sees our pain, whether we are in a mess through our own efforts or someone else's sin. We can be assured that God is with us and He sees all that happens to us. He waits with His ear bent to earth to hear our cry help us in our times of trial. He is El Roi the GOd who sees.
