SPRING
POEM OF THE MONTH Welcome the Rain The fresh rains announce spring’s glorious birth The rain tumbles down soaking the earth The sun hides fast behind the clouds They cover the earth like a burial shroud The birds and small animals all hide away Hoping and watching for the next sunny day People rush about all covered and bleak Running through life like shepherdless sheep As the rain falls it doesn’t relent Achieving the purpose for which it was sent It brings needed healing to a cracked dry land It brings growth and nourishment from God’s mighty hand It draws its wealth from worthless dirt Unlocking the treasures within hidden earth Then creation sings the praise of the long heavy rain With color, texture and flower Something beautiful springs to life where once it had Seemed so sour You were dry and cracked lifeless and hard The rains bring blessing as the song of the bard Your roots will grow deep as the rains increase Then your splendor will shine in the garden of the King Excerpt from Everyday matters: Words of Life by Sandra A. Popp©2003 ********** SCRIPTURE As the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth making it bud and flourish... so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty... Isaiah 55:10-11 *********************************************************** THOUGHT We can draw strength and nourishment from the difficult times in our lives. How? Just as the tree derives powerful nutrients from seemingly worthless dirt, we can find an eternal treasure locked within the dark times of our lives. We get the opportunity to see things that need to change in our lives and we get to see God's power working within us. When life deals you blows, drink deep from the mercy, truth and grace within God's word. Just as the rain brings forth flowers and flora, God's word brings forth good things in our lives. Therein are the nutrients that will make us stronger and wiser. It gives new meaning to the phrase "I need a drink" huh? *********************************************************** QUOTE Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. Richard Bach *********************************************************** NEWS I am combining the Newsletter mailing with the Poem of the Month Club. Have a blessed month
