EASTER 2005
POEM OF THE MONTH My Son, My Only My Son my only I let Him go To a mean and hostile cold cruel world His one desire was to bring them to Me Yet they broke His heart and watched Him bleed My Son my only I let You go To a mean and hostile cold cruel world From the comforts of heaven I gave You this cup You opened Your arms as they lifted You up Oh the pain of heart the anguish of soul I watched You bleed while hell took it’s toll I did not save yet You quickly obeyed My heart broke in two as this price was paid Oh weeping endured what a costly price My heart could have burst with this blood sacrifice My wrath You took but they still conspired Without repentance they didn’t retire Their words were sharp knives their hearts were cold ice Their hands stained red with Your pure sacrifice They laughed, their teeth gnashed and their evil eyes flamed Caring not that You paid the price for their shame I heard a cry and it shook my throne My heart’s desire was to have You home As I listened with pride I saw love so true As You pleaded,” Forgive… for they know not what they do” Written by Sandra A. Popp *********************************************************** SCRIPTURE Philippians 2:5-11 (New International Version) (Jesus) 5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:6 Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death– even death on a cross! *********************************************************** THOUGHT Out of pure love, the God of the universe willingly sacrificed His very own Son that we may be forgiven. He did not suffer that He might understand our plight, for He knows everything. Jesus grew up and lived as a man so that we may know that He understands our relationships, our joys, our trials, and our pain. Jesus stepped off His throne, put away His crown, and lived as a mere human for over thirty years. He endured about ten hours of unjust and torturous interrogation, and suffered six hours of painful crucifixion. Receive all that He died to give to you and don’t let that sacrifice be in vain.
